In 2016 Castle Glazing ACT was commissioned to replace all of the aluminium windows in the Blaxland Centre in Griffith. Occupied by M16 Artspace and DUO Services throughout the project, we were required to carry out our work in stages and with the amenity of the tenants in mind at all times.
Windows were custom made using the Elevate commercial range to match the mid-century architecture, ensuring maximum levels of thermal efficiency could be achieved, without losing any of the building's original charm.
As well as the striking windows, our scope of works also included the installation of automatic opening doors to the public and artists' entrances.
The result is a building that has had its life extended well into the future, without requiring significant demolition, while maintaining a unique part of Canberra's original character.
